SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM



2011-2012 Scholarship Auditions will be held Sept. 10 at 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Check in 3:30, Resume and Headshot encouraged but not required. Proof of identification, driver's license, and/or valid green card required. Must be fluent in English. 

Four students were chosen last year based on their ability, potential, motivation, and financial need. They are:

WHAT IS IT?
Our goal in forming the Scholarship Program at the Athletic Garage is to give serious dancers an opportunity to improve their skills, instilling the importance of technique as well as other dance styles.  For the amateur dancer, the program will serve as a foundation and the first steps into the world of dance. As well as giving the gift of dance to those have financial need.
 

WHO IS ELEGIBLE?

Anyone who loves to dance and values commitment, this person must be disciplined enough to fulfill the requirements of the program.



WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
  • Must be ages 18-26.
  • MUST KNOW BASIC BALLET POSITIONS and basics (Arms and Feet: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, Tendu, Plie, etc.) Must at least be able to perform a clean single pirouette, and side split.
  • Able to commit for the full term (6 months).
  • Able to attend all required classes (minimum of 12-14 classes/week).  If you miss a class, it must be made up with another approved class.
  • Class requirements will vary depending upon the student’s background and will be determined by the Scholarship Director.
  • Those with no technical background will be required to take a ballet class, two modern classes, two jazz classes. two technique classes and a hip hop class in addition to other classes.
  • Those technically trained. depending on their background, will be required to take ballet, modern, jazz and a combination of hip hop, Afro-Latino and technique classes.
  • In addition to the mandatory classes, students with full scholarships are encouraged to take any other dance classes they can at no cost.
  • In addition to dance requirements, students will be required to give four to five hours of service to the studio each week. These services include but are not limited to cleaning the studio, helping with studio activities, working behind the desk, assisting with sales & marketing etc.
  • Each student must sign and agree to the contract terms of the Athletic Garage Scholarship Contract.
